Perry ComoWhile on a family vacation in 1933, Perry Como auditioned for Freddie Carlone's band and was hired. The same year, he married Roselle Belline. In the early 1940s, Como and singer Jo Stafford hosted the "Chesterfield Supper Club" on NBC radio. In the late 1940s, the show made the transition to television. In the 1940s, Como apppear in a few films including three with Carmen Miranda but it was on television that Como made his mark. In 1950 Como began hosting his own show on CBS television. Five years later, he returned to NBC and hosted the "Kraft Music Hall" program which aired through 1963. In his later years, Como supported various charities and produced a syndicated radio program. Como's wife, Roselle, died in August of 1998, shortly after celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. Perry Como died on May 12, 2001. Links:
