Barbra Streisand

Barbra Streisand was born on April 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1962, she made her Broadway debut. The play did not do well, but Streisand earned a New York Critics Award.

Streisand starred in the hit Broadway play Funny Girl and in the film version of the musical for which she won a Best Actress Oscar.

Streisand's first album, The Barbra Streisand Album won two Grammy Awards in 1963 including "Album of the Year." She has gone on to become the bestselling female recording artist of all time.

As a singer, songwriter, actress, film director, and film producer, Streisand has won a number of awards including the Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, Cable Ace, Peabody, and the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award.
